Speed Turn Elementary
Math Contest
Speed Turn Elementary Math Contest (STEMC) is a free, school-based competition aimed to foster interest in mathematics in students between grades 1-6. Registration is done by the participant's school, although individual participants are also welcome. The contest itself will be written by students during school hours in March. There will be an in-person awards ceremony for top scorers in May.
Participants invited to our 3rd annual contest awards ceremony have been notified. Please keep an eye out for STEMC 2025!

The first annual Speed-Turn Elementary Math Contest was held in the Spring of 2022. There were over 500 registered participants with $1000 in sponsorship from the University of Calgary. Unfortunately, we were unable to host a large in-person awards ceremony last year due to Covid-19 and other complications. However, we did hand out awards to all award winners within their schools.
We would like to thank the University of Calgary for their generous sponsorship which allowed STEMC to happen.
The second annual Speed-Turn Elementary Math Contest was held in the Spring of 2023. There were over 700 registered participants with $1000 in sponsorship from the University of Calgary. The top scorers were invited to an awards ceremony on May 27th, with guest speaker professor Dr. Elena Braverman from the University of Calgary.
